Regional Safety Manager Full Time

We are looking for a Regional Safety Manager to join our team. This is a critical role responsible for overseeing the safety, and health programs at our PA and MD locations ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations, standards, codes, and company policies. This position does travel to assigned locations in MD and PA.

If you have the following, we want to hear from you:

• A minimum of 7 years of safety experience with a focus on industrial production facilities and management programs.
• Working knowledge of regulatory requirements for federal and state programs, processes, and program implementation strategies.
• A thorough knowledge of PSM and RMP programs specifically with ammonia.
• Safety management and program implementation skills.
• Food industry experience is not required but is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, or industrial hygiene is not required, but is preferred.
• Experience in working in a multi-location and multi-state environment preferred.

Essential Functions:

• Improve the quality of and ensure the effective execution of safety management processes following established regulations, policies, standards and best practices;
• Proactive support of safety programs at facilities within the region. Identification of safety issues and assistance in developing and implementing strategies that help safety managers at each facility;
• Provide leadership for the facility safety management personnel and program enhancement processes and implementation strategies;
• Develop strategies, provide assistance to facilities for dealing with outside insurers, legal counsel and other regulatory and claims related parties;
• Educate, train and provide support to operations in the development and execution of consistent safety management programs;
• Execute measure and monitor process to assess the overall safety performance and identify opportunities for improvement;
• Support the partnership with risk management (operations) to identify trends and opportunities for improvements in tools, training or processes.
• Identify all risks/hazards involved in division operations and recommend/coordinate the appropriate control to limit occupational exposure.
• Coordinate with Division General Manager and District Manager to establish divisional safety related goals and objectives. Report to Corporate Safety Department on any goals and objectives and seek out assistance when necessary.
• Assist / Conduct investigation and Root Cause Analysis on all division incidents as defined by the company.
• Maintain division safety plan, programs and procedures.
• Conduct any and all appropriate safety training for Plant Operations, Plant Maintenance, Vehicle Maintenance and Transportation as needed at the divisional level when a safety manager is not assigned and maintain all appropriate training records.
• Provide 10 hour OSHA training, rendering familiarization training and conduct plant tours for employees at the Regional Safety Centers, when necessary.
• Respond to division emergencies and safety related incidents, when possible.
• Interpret, implement and verify compliance with all applicable OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, EPA and other regulatory regulations.
• Conduct audits of entire divisional operations for compliance in accordance to all related regulations, including plant operations.
• Coordinate with District Transportation Trainer to ensure drivers remain trained in essential safety topics associated with their jobs.
• Complete and submit all reports as directed by the Corporate Safety Department.
• Coordinate with Division General Manager to ensure that any official/visitor from a regulatory agency is escorted while at the division.
• Manage division Return to Work/Work Comp. Program.
• Regularly review Division 300 and 300A for accuracy.
• Attend local and regional safety conferences, seminars and classes as necessary and remain abreast on current regulations, trends and best practices.
• All other duties as directed.
